What can I possibly say about the Mermen? This notoriously loud San Francisco trio are famous for their high-energy, high-happiness surf show. And tonight for the H.E.A.R. event, the three-man band did not disappoint.
The Mermen take their music-making seriously. And their fans are music-lovers who take their music-listening seriously.
What I noticed most about the Mermen concert was how clearly their music came through on the Clark Synthesis Tactile Floor. I sat towards the front. My ears did not hurt. Yet I heard the music loud and clear.
The Mermen show, if nothing else, demonstrated the importance of H.E.A.R.'s mission. Music is about more than noise. Music also involves vibrations, fellow listeners, and the feeling of group consciousness.
